After meeting at McDonalds in Warrick at the nice and early time of 7.00AM our small group of 9 headed out to The Springs, to meet up with Andrew (Milko) and Co. who had come down the day before.

Mark and Sue were nowhere to be seen but were no doubt on there way.

After setting up camp and Mark and Sue arriving 10 minutes later everyone was eager to hit the tracks, so that’s exactly what we did lead by our trusty leader and trip co-ordinator – Andrew Lindsey (Or should I say “THE BEER OCLOCK HILL THREESOME TERMINATOR!”.

The Springs always provides a great variety of terrain and can always be relied upon to create some challenges along the way.

After a quick run around Rum Hill it was up to the Snake Pit and then time for Bruce to get a little stuck in a creek bed which enabled everyone to get some mud and utelise their recovery skills. Some great driving techniques were used all day and our trucks had some great opportunities to show off what they could do.

Conquering the Granite Climb and then the Brisbane Highway was all part of the day.

Andrew and Milko charged up a massive granite hill with everything they had both successfully making it to the top and providing an opportunity for some fantastic photo’s and footage.

Andrew realized a short time later that he may have done some front suspension damage possibly maybe a CV joint or an axle problem and limped the Nissan back to the camp site for some form of repairs.

The rest of the group continued up VB Gulch again were a tyre had to be changed on Ross’s Toyota. The group then collected some fire wood as the clouds gathered above.

The fire wood collection exercise gave the macho members of the group an opportunity to play “man v’s wild” and show their man muscles while collecting two ute loads of wood.

Meanwhile back at the camp Andrew had been up to the homestead to see if they had any parts to run some much needed repairs for the Nissan to be back on the road. The owner was most helpful and had all the parts required and assisted Andrew to fix the car in on time.

With everyone back at the camp Beer Oclock Hill came round and it was anyone’s shot at the Legend – Beer O’Clock Hill. Don jumped in and gave it an awesome go and got some serious air, with the crowd cheering him on – Well Done Don. Andrew needed very little encouragement even after causing some damage earlier in the day, and was fired up to have a go in no time.

Up he went the first time and reached to top with no problems, up he went the second time and reached the top with no problems, and yes up he went the third time with no problems and no damage at all. The crowd went wild and there were high 5’s and slaps on the back from everyone.

It was drinkies around the fire time and a chance to reminisce on the days happenings that lead us into a great evening.

Waking up to the sun shining, it was decided that we would go down to the playground next to the homestead and have a little run on the tracks before heading back to Brissie in the afternoon.

Mark and Sue managed to come back with all their tyres in tack and everyone had an enjoyable and really pleasant weekend.
