LEVUKA August 2010

After lunch we went out to tackle the test track where we saw some other people driving up onto the logs to flex their truck for a photo opportunity. Not to be outdone, Wayne drove the Toyota up onto the logs and showed them how it was really done.
Sunday morning saw us break into 2 groups to give some of us to attempt something a little harder. Dingos Run proved too steep and slippery for most of us with even Andrew’s Comp truck breaking yet another CV attempting the climb. 2 vehicles did just manage to make it up, the rest of us turning around to try Rosemary’s Run instead. Meantime the other group were having just as much fun getting across the puddle at the bottom of Coolbabe leading up to the Dingos Run hillclimb. Eventually we all met up at Havoc Crossing and split up again to meet further around at a particularly hazardous rutty creek crossing. A few more damaged vehicles and recoveries ensued before heading back towards camp. While some went back to camp for roadside repairs a few of us went down to tackle BullAnt Track, which proved as slippery as ever, but we eventually all got through.
Casualties on the weekend included Jason breaking a Front Hub, Andrew breaking another CV joint, Wayne popping 2 x tyres off their rims, Ryan losing a mudflap, Dennis bending some steering arms, probably a few new dents all round, and lots of mud to take home.
Congratulations to Sue, Mark, and Daryl who completed their training course on the weekend and passed with flying colours.
