After being members of other 4WD Clubs located around Brisbane, two couples who lived locally in the Logan/Beenleigh area saw the need for a new club in their area. They made enquiries with the Association, and with the Association's backing and assistance, the couples distributed flyers and canvassed local businesses one Saturday morning in late April 2004. Ads were also placed in the local newspapers by the Association advertising interest in a local 4WD Club in the Logan/Beenleigh area.
On 11th May 2004, a group of about 30 people interested in four-wheel driving showed their support at the first meeting and it was agreed that a club should be formed. A steering committee was put in place and the had process begun.
The fledging club held its first day trip on Sunday, 6th June 2004 with a group of 18 vehicles to the Queen Mary Falls, Boonah and the Condamine George area. Many of the visitors who attended that trip are now members of the Club.
At the second meeting of the Club on 22 June 2004, the name "Twin Rivers 4x4 Club" was chosen by the members and the executive committee was formalised. By the beginning of July, the Club was fully incorporated.
The aim of the "Twin Rivers 4x4 Club" is to incorporate recreational four wheel driving with social and family outings, camping trips, driver education and public awareness whilst promoting safety both off road and on road and encouraging environmental conservation.
